My 5 Most Anticipated Releases of 2018

Hello readers,

todays post is up late. During the weekend I was rushed off to the hospital and had stay for a couple of days and recovery works a bit slow. I however wanted to get my five most anticipated releases out there.

If you have been following me for a while you know that my favorite genre is crime and thrillers, especially from scandinavian authors. One of my favorite series in this genre is from Camilla Läckberg. In the series we follow Patrick Hedström who works for the police and his wife Erika Falck who works as an author. Erikas novels are based on true crimes, mostly from the past. Eventually her cases play into the cases of her husband and they end up solving the cases together from different point of views. The characters in this series are really loveable and I got attached to them and their own story very fast and flew through the first five books a couple of years ago, and since then every new book of that series that came out was highly anticipated by me. Lucky me January 2nd the new novel came out in german (I am waiting for it to be in my mailbox any day), for the english version you will have to wait until February. So number one on my list is The Girl in the Woods by Camilla Läckberg. I honestly do not know much about the book as Camilla Läckberg has never disappointed me before I like to dive into this blindly, I can however tell you that a girl wents missing and that she disappeares from the same spot where another girl had gone missing thirty years ago. The girl that went missing thirty years ago was later discovered murdered. I am very excited to see how this two cases connect, if they are connected and what new mysteries and secrets turn up in the little village of Fjällbacka.

My 2nd most anticipated release would be The Elizas by Sara Shephard. For this one I must say that I know that Sara Shephard is the author of Pretty Little Liars which I have never read but watched (and I loved it) just the fact that it is the same author intrigued me, I however was sceptical because YA mysteries and crimes are usually not my thing to read. I watch them but I don`t read them. But when I saw that The Elizas was actually adult fiction I thought I need to look into it. Again as with all mystery and crime I do not like to know much before I read them, but from what I know we have a young woman that is found at the bottom at a hotel pool. While everyone thinks it was just another suicide attempt she claims that she was pushed. So wether she is right or wrong I got to see for myself when I pick this up and I am looking forward to see what it is all about.

My 3rd choice for this list is A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Bernard. So for this one I actually found two release dates. One in 2017 and one in 2018. So if its already out its wrong in this list, I want to read it anyway. This book is about a girl who can`t speak and a boy who can`t hear. They both go on a journey of self-discovery and find support with each other. This can either be a hit or a miss for me. We will see.

The 4th book on this list is Need to know by Karen Cleveland. This is again a thriller, spy kinda thing with russian sleeper cells and the CIA and the agent involved in this uncovers dangerous secrets that threaten her job, her family and her life. I didn`t read the whole synopsis, because again I like to read it without knowing much, but it sounded absolutely intriguing and something that I would absolutely enjoy. So hopefully I will get to pick this up during 2018 (I really have a lot of books on my TBR and wishlist).

A book that I definetly want and need to pick up is Thriving through uncertainty by Tama J. Kievers. With finishing University in a year and a half I often feel a bit stressed about the future, so a book with the subtitle Moving beyond fear of the unknown and making change work  for you sounded perfect to me. Plus one of my reading goals for 2018 was to read more non fiction, so this book just came around as a perfect pick.

So these are not all of my anticipated releases but the top five. Let me know some of the releases you are looking forward to this year in the comments below and I see you again soon for another bookish post.

Take care,
📚Nadja
